About KnowYourBlock
KnowYourBlock is a free, fast due-diligence tool for Australian property. Type an address or a suburb and instantly see the things buyers normally have to chase across a dozen separate government maps: flood and bushfire exposure, planning zoning, school catchments, crime rates, building approvals and local demographics.
We built it because checking a property properly is slow and scattered — every council, department and agency publishes its data somewhere different, in a different format. KnowYourBlock pulls those public datasets into one place and answers a simple question: what do I need to know about this block before I buy?
Where the data comes from
Everything we show is built from official, openly licensed government and public sources — Geoscape G-NAF for addresses, state planning schemes and council mapping for zoning and hazards, state education departments for schools, police and ABS for crime, and the ABS for building approvals and Census demographics. Each result page cites the source and its effective date.
We currently cover Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, South Australia and Australian Capital Territory. Flood and bushfire mapping is available for South East Queensland councils; every other layer spans the states we cover.
Important: indicative only
KnowYourBlock is general information, not advice. It is not legal, financial, valuation or insurance advice, and it does not replace formal searches or professional inspections. Data can be incomplete or out of date. Always verify anything that matters with the relevant council or authority before relying on it.
