Terms of Use
Last updated 3 August 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website at knowyourblock.au and its content (the “Service”), operated by KnowYourBlock (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Indicative information only
KnowYourBlock provides general information about places — flood, bushfire, zoning, school-catchment, crime, development and demographic data — compiled from public and open-data sources. It is indicative only and is not legal, financial, valuation, insurance or professional advice. It may be incomplete, out of date or inaccurate. You must independently verify any information with the relevant council, government authority or a qualified professional before relying on it, including before buying, selling, insuring or making any decision about a property. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service.
Our content and compilation
The individual datasets underlying the Service are sourced from government and open-data providers, and remain subject to their respective licences (we attribute each source on the relevant pages). We do not claim ownership of that underlying public data, and you are free to obtain it from its original sources.
However, KnowYourBlock’s selection, arrangement, aggregation and presentation of that data — including the way it is resolved to an address, our derived statistics and rankings, our risk scoring, page structure, design, and all original written content such as our articles — is our original work and is protected by copyright as a compilation and as original material, owned by or licensed to us. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you.
Permitted use
You may access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial due-diligence and information purposes. You may share a link to a page, and you may quote small portions of our original content with clear attribution to “KnowYourBlock” and a link back to the relevant page.
Prohibited use — no scraping or bulk extraction
You must not, without our prior written permission:
- use any automated means — including scrapers, crawlers, bots, spiders or scripts — to access, index, harvest or extract content or data from the Service (search engines indexing the site in the ordinary way are permitted);
- copy, reproduce, republish, scrape, harvest, or systematically or in bulk extract, store or download any substantial part of the Service, our compiled data, our derived statistics or our original content;
- create a competing or derivative product or dataset from our compilation, or resell, sublicense or commercially exploit any part of the Service;
- frame, mirror or misrepresent the Service, or remove or obscure any attribution, copyright or source notice;
- place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or otherwise interfere with the Service’s operation or security.
These restrictions are a condition of access. Accessing the Service by automated means or in breach of these Terms is unauthorised, and we reserve all rights and remedies available to us, including under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), for any breach.
Third-party links and partners
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, and some outbound links may be affiliate or referral links, as described in our Privacy & Cookies page. We are not responsible for the content, products or practices of third-party sites. Our commercial arrangements never change the information we show.
Changes and contact
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the most recent change, and your continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
